A Journey Back To Health

Food has been a recent focus of my holistic journey. In August I went full vegan & gluten free. To be honest, I thought it was going to be harder than it was.

The reason, I believe, it wasn’t challenging for me is because my body was wanting this change AND I was mentally ready.

I used to eat food out of necessity, which often meant I didn’t prioritize it, which often meant I would eat things that were quick and convenient. Not always, but often. I didn’t feel aligned but I wasn’t ready to “give up” all this time of mine I thought I was saving...

I often had doctors tell me I HAD to eat meat because I was low iron, and low b12. Every time I tried to go vegetarian in the past I gave in and at a burger and then felt worse. But, I told myself, the doctor says I need meat, so I have to listen.

Until August. I had already been eating mostly vegetarian and gluten free-ish for a while, but August was the turning point for me. I was taking a healing course and we had to go full vegan, caffeine & alcohol free for 21 days.


At first it intimidated me, until, I started feeling good. I mean like reallly good.

My digestion had been so regular (it literally NEVER was before), most days my energy levels are up and ultimately I feel more aligned with my personal values. As an animal lover my entire life, I never really liked eating them, and I don’t know why it took this long into my adult life to realize that I am in charge of my food now!

So, just like loving ourselves through all our emotions, I learned that I also have to lovingly take care of my body and listen to what it wants.


Right now, I eat mostly vegan and mostly gluten free. I personally have created a way of eating that works for me. I encourage you to find a way of eating that works for you. Screw “diet” plans. Just listen to when your body feels good and follow that.

This is me right now, this is where I am at. I’m not perfect, I still eat potato chips and chocolate but I also eat tons of veggies. It’s all about balance right?!
